2017 Jan 01: Prof Janaka B. Ekanayake is elevated to IEEE Fellow

  • PEFAA congratulate Prof. Janaka B.Ekanayake for his life time achievement. He is being recognized for his contributions to education in Renewable Energy Integration and Smart Grid. He is also a member of the IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) in power Engineering and also a Fellow of IET and IESL.
  • The process to evaluate a Fellow is rigorous. It begins with the evaluation by the Committee(s) identified for the candidate, followed by evaluation by the PES Fellow Committee, and ending with evaluation by the IEEE Fellow Committee. The number of new IEEE Fellows each year is restricted to be no more than 0.1% of the total voting Institute membership.
  • He is the only IEEE Fellow in the Sri Lankan University service and hence the Peradeniya University and Sri Lanka should be proud of him.
  • PEFAA is also proud as he has been a very active member of PEFAA and was the General Secretary in 1992-1993 Executive Committee.
